Yvonne Elizabeth Williams was born on November 7, 1937 in Nashville, Tennessee.  She was the fifth child of the late Alfred Miller and Ethel Mae Cousin.  To her family and those in the community she was affectionately known as “Ms. Yvonne” and “Grandmomma”. She passed peacefully at home with her family on Tuesday, November 29, 2022

Yvonne Elizabeth Williams accepted Christ at an early age. She was a long-time member of Olivet Baptist Church and St. James Baptist Church. During her more active years she sang in the choir and served on various committees.


Yvonne was educated in Metro Nashville Public Schools. During the early fifties she attended the Historical Washington Jr high school where she was a member of the girls’ basketball team and later went on to complete her high school diploma.


Yvonne Elizabeth Williams was employed by Vanderbilt Hospital where she retired after 35 years of service. Also, she worked at Metro public schools in food service. She loved working in food services and always made sure everyone was fed.


Yvonne Elizabeth Williams loved cooking, traveling, entertaining her grandchildren, and last but not least playing cards. Yvonne loved her family wholeheartedly.


She was proceeded in death by her sons: Anthony Cousin, Rollie Taylor, Wendell Taylor and siblings, Marvin Cousin, James Cousin, Richard Cousin, Gwendolyn Patterson and grandson, Andrea Mayfield.

Survivors left to cherish her sweet memories include her sons, Michael (Freda) Cousin, Leslie Cousin, Stephon (Karen) Taylor; her only devoted & dedicated daughter Deborah Mayfield; brothers, Rev. Dr. Lester Cousin and Central (Gloria) Cousin, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren; Connie, Melvin, Michael Jr, Anthony, Nikita, Victoria, Shatika, Letriae, Stefano, Marcus, Kiara, Precious Page, Addrienne Alsup; devoted caretaker; Sherronya Dycus, Matthias Phillips and Sherman Bennett; lifelong friends; Maggie Jordan, Leroy Cox, and Ann Bartlett; neighborhood and family friends, The Lee Family, The Johnson Family, The Banks Family, The Page Family, and The Jones Family.  In addition, Ms. Yvonne has 24 Great grandchildren and 14 Great-Great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
