Mrs. Yeargin was born July 4, 1924 to Grant & Johnella Lloyd. She was the 9th of 11 children. She loved going to school and church. She excelled at school, winning awards. One was for “Best Penmanship” in a national contest. She attended Meigs Elementary School, Pearl High School, Fisk University (Nashville Tenn) and DuPaul University (Chicago IL). She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and played piano for several churches in her community. She married Jerry Yeargin, Jr. in 1945 and had 4 children. Jerry Yeargin III, James L Yeargin (deceased), Patricia F. Yeargin and Millicent Yeargin DeBarros. She has 1 surviving sister Mrs. Mae F. Hodges (Chicago). Four grandchildren, James (Connie) Yeargin Jr. , Jermaine Yeargin (Felicia), Jerry W. Yeargin and Demetrius Marsh. Five great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was a faithful member of Faith Is The Victory Church for 38 years. She loved the Lord and working in the children’s ministry. She was employed as a kindergarten teacher at Grace Eaton Day Care. Temple Baptist Church and Mt. Sinai Church. She taught Bible classes with her sister at community centers throughout the city, as well as The School for Blind Children. Upon being led by the Lord she entered her final season of retirement and rest where she wrote 2 books “To God Be the Glory” and “School Yesterday”.
