Reverend William Kenneth Fite (“Buck”) was born October 29, 1959 (October 27, 1959) at Hubbard Hospital to Nannie Bell Fite (Roach) and Willie Walter Harper. He peacefully transitioned from his earthly life at home surrounded by his family EARLY in the morning of Saturday, February 24, 2024. Reverend Fite lived a life marked by unwavering faith, boundless love, and profound gratitude for all of God's creation. His life was a testament to the grace and mercy bestowed upon us all. Buck, as he was often referred to, loved to read, laugh, and love on his family. To know him was to love him. That warm, light-hearted spirit was like a magnet to all he encountered.
William was educated in the Metropolitan Nashville Davidson County school system and attended Maplewood High School. It was during those formative years that William met the love of his life (his Boo as he would say), Lolita Christmon. On August 8, 1982, the two were joined in Holy Matrimony. To this union, they brought forth four giving daughters. If you ever wanted to know what love and commitment look like, William and Lolita were a great example. The couple spent nearly 50 years in love and celebrated 41 years of marriage.
Reverend Fite dedicated his heart to Christ early in life. He was baptized at First John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Carl M. Cross. As a child, he always carried around his Bible while attending church services and prayer meetings alongside his grandmother. Reverend Fite later became a member of Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church. As an adult, he joined Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist under the leadership of Pastor Robert J. Pillow where he was a dedicated member of the Pastor’s Aide Club and ordained as a Deacon. Reverend Fite was destined to preach the word of God. After finally accepting God's call on his life, he was ordained as a Minister and preached his first sermon in 1999. In 2010, Reverend Fite began to serve and worship at True Faith Missionary Baptist Church where he assisted his Pastor and sang in the choir. Reverend Fite always encouraged others to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
William always lived a life of service. He worked for about 10 years as an employee of Nashville Gas Company (now known as Piedmont). William later became an employee of Williams Medical Supply, Inc. where he would selfishly serve his customers for 29 years until his retirement in August 2022.
William leaves behind to hold precious memories, his cherished wife, Lolita, and his daughters Natasha Fite, Katrice Cloyd, Makisha Shaw, and Lanise Fite for whom he was a pillar of strength and guidance. His legacy of compassion and wisdom will live on through his beloved grandchildren Javaris Elliott, Danice Cloyd, Kennice Cloyd, Tristyn Haymer, Kevin Shaw, Jr., and his precious great-granddaughter Lorena T. Elliott. Six of his beloved siblings, Henry L. Fite, Jr., Janice A. Fite, Mamie L. Hawkins, Lewis E. Fite, Lavenia D. Jones (Fite), and Jackie Y. Hackney, and cousins Mary B. Brown and Thomas (Cherron) Roach, Jr. will hold dear the memory of his gentle spirit and kind heart. Brother-in-law Gary C. Gooch, faithful friends Rev Charles E.
