Willard Stokes was born in Smithville, Tennessee on July 12, 1945 to the late Hattie Mae Stokes and Frank Griffith. He departed this earthly life on Friday, April 1, 2022 in Rutherford County at Stonecrest Medical Center.
Willard attended Wilson County Public Schools. He enjoyed life, music, and going places. Willard never drove a car but he always went wherever he wanted to go, hitching rides from place to place. He was loved and well known throughout Dowelltown and Smithville, Tennessee.
On July 10, 2021 Willard attended his surprise 76th Birthday Party in his hometown Dowelltown, Tennessee. He was so happy to see and spend time with his family and so many friends.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents Hattie Mae Stokes and Frank Griffith, brother, Claston Stokes, and sister Mary Elizabeth Stokes. He leaves to cherish his memories his brother, Robbie J. League of Cookeville, TN., sister, Sharon Stokes Stovall of Louisville, KY., special friends, Ella Mae Robinson of Dowelltown, TN., Ronnie and Cynthia Hancock of Mt. Juliet, TN., devoted caregivers, George, Serkalem, and Tsion Wilburn, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Visitation Sunday, April10, 2022, 2-3:00pm at funeral home, Burial in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
