Valerie Landrum

September 15, 1962 — March 7, 2025

Valerie J. Landrum was born to Julius deHart Landrum and Mary Ella Haddox- Covington Landrum in Nashville, Tennessee. She departed this sweet productive life on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville, Tennessee.

Valerie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized and became a member of Locust Ridge PB. Church. Valerie later became an active member of Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church where she attended until her health failed. She was an active member of the Media and Singles Ministry.

Valerie J. (The oldest of the TLC Crew) received her education in Davidson County public schools, graduating from Glencliff High School in the top 10% of her class in 1980. She also attended Middle Tennessee State University.

Valerie worked several years at Holiday Inn Airport and Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital where her infectious smile, her loving spirit, and her calm and beautiful personality made her a pro in the roles she held at each one of these establishments.

To know Valerie is to love her. Those who knew and loved her, knows that it was her body that gave out, but her fight and faith remained in tack and strong until the end. Val enjoyed life to the fullest! Even when her health started to fail, she had a drive and a zest for life that she would not allow it to control or stop her from living and being present in it! From her role as the eldest sister of four, her love for her traveling excursions, skating, fishing, love of history, her slick talking spades skills, dance, and music she brought her whole self to the party! You knew when Too Short made the PSA to “Blow the Whistle” you better watch out and blow the heck out of it because she was blowing hers. Valerie will always be “Simply Amazing.”

Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Mary Landrum; sister, Velinda D. Bransford; grandparents, William R Convington, Martha Jane Haddox, and Maude Williams. Valerie’s Fur Babies: Snoodles and PJ.
