Valencia Yvette Douglas

Valencia was born on May 11, 1962 in Detroit, Michigan to the late George and Inez Cain. Valencia was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Peggy Delores Douglas. She graduated from Glencliff High School in 1980. She also attended Tennessee State University.

Valencia gave her life to Christ at John Wesley over 40 years ago. Valencia has served diligently at John Wesley in a number of capacities. Valencia served as a member of the Board of Trustees ministry, president of the John Wesley Gospel Chorus, Co-Chairperson of the John Wesley Homecoming ministry. Valencia also received the John Wesley Ring of Honor, Class of 2020.

Valencia was a state employee for 13 years at the Department of Human Services. She was a very hard and dedicated worker, who loved her job. Valencia loved to cook, especially her famous Mac-N-Cheese. She also loved to dance and attend TSU football games. Valencia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. Valencia had such a vibrant smile and soul that touched everyone she came across.

Valencia leaves to cherish her memories to her brother Wayne Fletcher of Pamona, California, four loving children Christopher Douglas (Victoria Harris), Arisia Douglas (James Shaw), Kevin Douglas (Charmaine Helms), and Quinton Douglas; twelve grandchildren, Deon, Deyonte, Kavant, Keveon, Daevion, Terron, Zoey, Kameron, Jaya, Jace, Aloni and Stormy Dream; devoted extended family Hendrick (Guy) Douglas, Diane Douglas Jones, devoted friends Wanda McCullough, Mary Green, Sherrie Malone and Lisa Montgomery and other numerous of family, friends and love ones.
