Stephanie Joi Stewart

STEWART, Stephanie Joi Age 55. Born November 3, 1957. Homegoing August 25, 2013. Stephanie was the fourth child of the late Breta Robinson Stewart and Thomas Stewart, Sr. Stephanie was educated at Tennessee State University, where she majored in engineering. She was a civil engineer for the Department of Transportation for the state of Tennessee for thirty years, where she worked as a roadway designer. Of her many projects, she helped design the sound walls for I-440. She was active in the professional women's engineer association. Stephanie leaves to cherish her memory, sisters, Brenda (Oscar) Dismuke, Paula, Lynn and Kimberly Stewart; brother, Thomas Jr. (Jessica); nieces and nephews, Dorlisa (Cory) Williams, David Dismuke, Sarah, Breanne, Jessalyn & Holley Stewart, Jason Macelli, Gabrielle Pickens, Derrick Smith. Stephanie is also survived by a host of cousins, and very dear friends, Vickie Phelps and Wanda Jordan. Visitation at Terrell Broady Funeral Home will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 beginning at 3 p.m. A Celebration of Stephanie's life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at New Visions Baptist Church, 2830 McGavock Pike, Nashville, TN. Viewing will begin at 11 a.m. Celebration will begin at noon. Interment Greenwood (Central) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the School of Engineering at Tennessee State University or an education fund of choice.
