JACKSON-CALVIN, Shirley March 27, 2013. She was born in Clarksdale, MS to Lillie Jackson and the late Marshall Jackson, Sr. She was the fifth of thirteen children. She is a graduate of Tennessee State University and Cumberland University. Shirley spent 28 years in corporate America with State Farm Catastrophe Team, and she ended her career with the Department of Homeland Security-FEMA Division as a Hazard Mitigation Insurance Specialist. She also served in many capacities throughout her community, and was a life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Tennessee State University National and local Alumni Associations. Shirley will be missed by her children, Dmitric Jackson, Tandy Calvin, and Algernon (Angel) Calvin; her mother, Lillie H. Jackson Keys; her grandchildren, Sydney, Anniah, Trinity and Caden Calvin; sisters, Helen Smith, Elvie Jackson, Marlene Jackson, Sherry Porter, Barbara Leonard and Karla Fisher; brothers, Perry Jackson, Willie Van Jackson, Douglas Jackson and Wilbert Jackson; nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and devoted friends.
