Shearon Lee Williams

d. June 24, 2014

Shearon Lee Williams Antioch, TN Age 77, fought his last fight, kept the faith, and finished his course in this life early in the morning on June 24, 2014. Our father, grandfather, uncle, brother, beloved friend and confidant will be cherished in our hearts forever.  Born to Theodore Howard and Mary Louvenia Williams, who preceded him in death, Shearon developed a hard work ethic from his parents. While his father was a successful entrepreneur in Nashville, his mother was an accomplished school teacher at the historic Fisk University. He was educated in the Nashville Public School System, having graduated from Pearl High School in 1954. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department and celebrated retirement after 33 years of service. Shearon was one of the first African American fire-fighters in Nashville, ending his career as a decorated Engineer. His fellow peers acknowledged him as a 'character' who was serious about his work, fun-loving, and a perfectionist who loved to cook. He professed his love in Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior, and was baptized at the Schrader Lane Church of Christ on Schrader Lane, Nashville, TN under the spiritual guidance of Dr. David Jones, Jr.  He met and married his wife of 25 years, Josephine Eunice Smith on December 10, 1958, having six children born to their union: Sharon Anita (DeMarco) Reynolds, Carmen Alicia Williams, Roger Howard Williams, Demetrius Lee (deceased) Williams, Milton (Sonia) Charles Williams and Isaac Miguel Williams. A devoted father and grandfather, Shearon loved his children and grandchildren. An advocate of cooking special meals at holiday gatherings, he cherished the moments spent with his family. He was the person of 'plenty' who wanted to make sure everyone was well nourished. He affectionately gave to others and volunteered to deliver meals to the needy every Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. His daughters, Sharon and Carmen, as he warmly said, 'are my soldiers who get the job done!' His sons were his allies. He shares a special bond with his grandchildren, DeMarco II and Devin, Keenan, Kourtney, Mustapha and Krystil. Preceding in death are brothers, Theodore Howard, James Wesley, Charles Hadley, Isaac Paul Williams; sister, Gloria Sueanne Snell; and son, Demetrius Lee Williams. He is survived by a loving and devoted brother, Roger Carl 'Rock' Williams, an accomplished musician. He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted and special relationship with Josephine Williams; a devoted brother-in-law, Lorenzy Snell; sister-in-law, Sally (Charles) Williams; a loving son-in-law, DeMarco Reynolds; a devoted sister-in-law, Gloria Williams; devoted niece and nephew, Roderick and Angela Glatt; a loving cousin, William Henry (Dorothy) Thomas; a special friend, Dante Garrett; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Monday, June 30, 2014 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. with funeral to follow at Schrader Lane Church of Christ. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
