As sure as the sunrise on September 3, 1956, Shasta (Shakey) Ravonia Baker entered the world to the late Charlie and Grace Baker.
Shakey, had a free-spirited soul, with a smile that was so contagious, it luminated the dimmest room and brought a sense of calmness to troubled hearts. An artist in her own right, she used her creativity to master the craft of turning nothing into something.
Playing solitaire, solving crossword puzzles, watching her favorite tv shows, and sitting on the porch brought Shasta happiness, however spending time with her children, grandchildren and family brought her joy.
Shasta received her education in Metro Public Schools. She was employed at The Hilton Hotel and later retired in 2022. When the moon brightened the night sky on February 8, 2025, Shasta’s beautiful soul was at rest.
Shakey is preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Grace Baker and sisters Marcellene and LaWanda Baker.
Her memory will always be cherished through her sons, Michael Sr. and Arcenio Sr. (Jasmine), grandchildren Michael Jr., Mikel, Kylia, My’ Recc, Faith, Kyng, Arcenio (Ace) Jr., Charus, Arcenio III, Jaya, Tomari, and Temari, sisters Donna, Kim and Mardan, nephews, DeShawn, Dewayne, Marcelle, Ricky, Demario and Rodney, nieces Goddess (Tiffany), Bria, Domonique, LaTonya and Kenosha, aunts Nancy and Doris, uncles Theodore Jr. (Valerie), Oliver, Maurice (Sharon) and Mark, honorary grandchildren Anthony, Dynasty, Zayiah, Zamyre and Jamin, Devoted cousin Shirley and a host of other family members and friends.
