Sara Griffith

Sara Louise Griffith was born July 14, 1961, to the late James A. Gatewood and Annie Ruth Gatewood. She was also known to her family as ‘Mickye’.

Sara was born in Brewton, Alabama. She later moved to Chicago, Ill, then to Nashville, TN.

She attended Pearl High School where she was a member of the ROTC and the Pearl High School (Tigers) Cheerleaders. She furthered her education at Tennessee State University.

Sara was married to Michael D. Griffith in 1984. During this matrimony was born 2 children. Macia and Steven Griffith. Michael and Sara had been married for 39 years; they were together for over 40 years.

Sara retired from the State of Tennessee, she worked in Title and Registration. She was a Vehicle Service Manager, with over 30 years of service.

Sara’s loved gardening, grilling, socializing outdoors and playing with her dog Bo. Sara’s mostly enjoyed being with her husband Michael while watching her favorite T. V. shows, Charmed, Supernatural, Below deck, and the food channel.

She leaves to cherish in memory: Her loving daughter, Macia (Dontae) Nelson, devoted son Steven Griffith, Her beloved grandchildren, Kyra Humphrey, Khalia, LaDontae Jr., Omari Nelson. She also leaves to mourn her very close sister-in-law and friend Pamela (Ricky) Bursey, brother-in-law, William (Patricia) Griffith Jr., sister-in -law, Betty (Charlie) Walker Jr., the late brother-in-law David (Pamela) Griffith, sister-in-law, Antonia (Don) Woods Sr. and two brothers, Thomas Gatewood and the late Roberto Gatewood. 

She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of Aunts and Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
