Sanwon Leontae Gomez Houston was born on June 8, 1984, in Meridian, MS to Rozell Forbes and McArthur Houston. He was the 5th of 8 Children. He confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was baptized at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church.
The family moved to Nashville, TN in the late 1980s, where Sanwon grew up and was educated in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System and graduated from Stratford Comprehensive High School.
In his adult life, Sanwon married Catrina Perry, and this union was blessed with a total of 8 children. Sanwon was a hardworking man, a providing husband, a devoted father, loving brother, and a true friend. He recently completed training and received his CDL License. Sanwon never met a stranger and was the life of the party and was a true Tennessee Titans and Alabama Crimson Tide fan.
On August 14, 2023, Sanwon entered into eternal rest at his home.
He was preceded in death by (1) son: Sanwon Houston Jr.; (1) brother: Dominique Rodriquez Houston; father-in-law: Willie McDowell; his grandparents: Mary and Jesse Houston, Sr. & Betty and Henry Lee Forbes; (4) aunts: Mary Moore, Hazel Williams, Minnie Scott, & Jerri Morton; and (4) uncles: Jesse Houston Jr., Jessie C. Houston, Albert Houston, & James
Houston.
He leaves to cherish his wife Catrina Perry; (4) children: Terrence Mitchell, Onnesti Evans, Nyshaun Lawrence, & Santana Houston; (3) stepchildren: Arieanna Scruggs, Michael Perry, & Davion Perry; (1) granddaughter: Ty'Onna Reed; parents: McArthur and Rozell Houston; mother-in-law: Patricia (Michael) White; (2) brothers: Alfonso Brown Sr. & Marcus Allen; (4) sisters: Kimberly (Antonio) Griggs, Lakeshea (Antonio) Holliday, Latishea (Chris) Jackson, & Tourean Newell; (2) brothers-in-law: Derrick Perry & Dontae Perry; (1) sister-in-law: Paige Brown; (6) uncles: John Houston Sr., Alexander (Lyn) Houston, Henry (Latricia) Houston, Robert Houston, Oscar Houston. & Michael Houston; (13) aunts: Gloria Jones, Tracey (Robert) Smith, Barbara Houston, Mattie Sue Houston, Peggy Houston, Henrietta Forbes, Agnes (Tony) Ward, Cynthia (Lee) Houston, Nicole Forbes-Powe, Sandra (Jimmy) Kelly, Janice (Fred) Collins, Latonya (Daveyon) Hunt & Tommie Jean Forbes; (2) great-aunts: Minnie Roberts-Donald & Bertha Roberts-Moore: a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
