Ruby Mae Pannell Hannah Roberts

March 7, 1926 — October 26, 2021

Ruby Mae Pannell Hannah Roberts was born on March 7, 1926, in Booneville, Mississippi, the youngest child of Maggie and Jessie Pannell. She grew up in Booneville and later married William Hannah who preceded her in death. To that union, four children were born, Stella, Josephine, Marilyn, and Willie.

Ruby confessed her faith in Christ at a young age at Wolf Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Booneville. After moving to Nashville, she joined the Eighth Street Baptist Church. There she began her lifelong ministry as a member of the Usher Board. Later in life, after marrying her late husband, Willie Roberts, she united with First Baptist Church South Inglewood. While at South Inglewood, she continued to work untiringly in the ministry that she loved, the Senior Ushers, where she served as president.
Ruby loved to cook and was famous for her homemade Carmel cakes. Her house was always open to family and friends where you could always get a good meal and enjoy true southern hospitality. She truly loved her family, friends, and church family at First Baptist South Inglewood.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Jessie and Maggie Pannell; brother, Autry Lee Pannell, and sister, Luree Rowan. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children: son, Willie (Earlene) Hannah of Booneville, Mississippi; daughters, Dr. Stella (Charles) Simpson, Josephine Lamb and Marilyn Turner; grandchildren, Vensive Lamb, Karen (Christopher) Cotter, Angela Simpson, Rev. Terrance (Shalon) Hannah, Bradley Hannah, Brian Hannah, Sharonda Hannah, Maurice McDonald, and Terry Mincy; numerous great grandchildren, two stepsons, Charles Roberts and Milton (Sherrita) Roberts, sister-in-law, Dorothy Roberts; many nieces and nephews; one special nephew, Leonard Rowan; a host of relatives, friends and church members; special caretakers Lewis Bridges, Annette Walker, Shirley Maxey, Dorothy Harvell and the staff of Elmcroft Senior Living of Brentwood.
