Rosie L. Pickens was born on November 26, 1947 in Aliceville,Alabama. She was the second daughter of the late Dora Mae Little and Arcell Sanders. She heard our LORD JESUS CHRIST call her name, she answerd, and gained her wings on Thursday, April 27,2023.
Rosie received her education in the public schools of Pickens County in Aliceville, Alabama. Rosie left from Alabama and moved to New York City, New York for a couple of years and later moved to Chicago,Illinois where she met and fell in LOVE with her KNIGHT and SHINNING STAR Lawson Pickens. Rosie was united in HOLY MATRIMONY to the late GREAT LAWSON PICKENS on October 31,1979 in Chicago, Illinois and later moved to Nashville, Tennessee. They were married for 34 years until Lawson gained his wings.
While living in Chicago Rosie worked 3rd Shift at Cook County Hospital as a CNA until they moved to Nashville,Tennessee. While living in Nashville she worked at Crestview Nurseing Home; Westend Home for Ladies; and eventually started her own Private Duty Service caring and loving for STRANGERS whom soon after considered her as FAMILY until she fell ill but they still kept in touch as FAMILY.
Rosie is proceeded in death by her GREAT husband Lawson Pickens; WONDERFUL mother Dora Mae Little; father Arcell Sanders; sisters Eloise Little, Ida Mae Gardner, Callie Lawson, and Lorea Taylor; brothers Luther Lee Little and Lucious Sanders; step-son Tony Todd; nephew Jerry Little; adopted grandchildren Stephon and Christiana Gardner
With pleasant memories to always cherish Rosie leaves to cherish her loving daughter Maxine (Willie) Watts; step-daughter Elizabeth Kyles; adopted daughters Monique, Orandra, and Deandra Gardner; adopted sons William Little and David Mays; devoted granddaughter Nicole Little; grandsons Jeremy and Jaques Watts; great-grandchildren Kadijuah Elam, Klydonquez (Demetria) Smith, Jaionna, Kashmir, Jalaysia, and Jaqquevious; great great-grandchildren De'Kyla and Ke'Nyla Rose Smith; special niece and nephew Priscilla, David, Pearly and Cedric Little; adopted grandchildren Idashai, Myai, James, Rho, Jerrionna, Dorthajuah, StanLawson, Nevaeh, Kimbery, Kayla, Zoey, Mallory Drew, Joshua McMann, Parrish (Selia) Hammond, Tyasia, Patricia, and Latoya French, Rachel Russell, Simone Thompson, Ralpheal Hammond, Thaddeious Elam; sisters Florea (Charles) Sutton of Detroit, MI and Deza (Bobbie) Sanders of Saginaw, MI; great nieces and nephews Erica, Brianna, Bria (BLACK GIRL), Keitavious, Danisha, Davita, Domonique; God children Joann Hammond, Gloria Thompson, Yolanda Byrum,Pamela Henderson, Sheryl Macklin; special great devoted cousins Dora Bryant and Lula Bell Smith; devoted sister in law Louvenia Harris; great friends Russell, Jami, Robert Dixon, Coble Family, Primm Family, Warner Family, George Winston and a host of other special family and friends.
Rosie professed a hope in Christ at an early age in Aliceville, Alabama at Union Valley MBC. She later moved to Chicago, Illinois and joined Zion Traverlers Church. Then she moved to Nashville, Tennessee joined St. Matthews MBC under the leadership of Pastor W.B. Armstrong; later joined Pilgrim Emmauel/The Tabernacle of Glory Church under the leadership of Pastor Roderick Pounds/Dr. William V. Green where she was promoted to become a Mother on the Mother's Board. Rosie last and final church that she joined was Zion MBC under the leadership of Pastor James Davis whom instantly put her to work and on the Mother's Board.
