Roberta Lee Batey Shull was the first child born into the loving care of Velma and Robert Batey on May 22, 1943 in Nashville, TN. She matriculated through the Metro Nashville Public School system ultimately graduating from Cameron High School with the class of 1961. Soon after high school, Roberta began working for the Acme Security Company. Later in life she became a secretary for Attorney Stan Allen, finally retiring from the Kroger Company in the early 2000’s. Roberta is preceded in death by her parents; her son, James Shull and her siblings, Patricia Batey and Joyce Ann Batey.
In 1959, Roberta married James Wallace Shull and to this union three sons were born. Her family was her great delight! She supported her sons and lavished her grandsons with plenty of love and the best gifts! Though she managed to work two full-time jobs simultaneously for many years, she always made time to be at family gatherings and to travel with her dear “friend girls.” On one of the trips that she took with her friends, she was baptized in the Jordan River in Jerusalem. Roberta was a joy to know! She smiled brightly, laughed richly and loved life to the fullest.
In the early hours of November 9, 2022, Roberta heard the voice of her Savior beckoning her into eternal rest. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Darryl and Maurice (Anita) Shull; grandsons, Corrie Shull and Derrick Salter; step-granddaughter, Yolanda Jobe; great-grandchildren, Derriona and Derrick Salter, Harrison, Zoe, and Hannah Shull; siblings, Vivian Batey, Betty Jean Batey, Lewis Batey, and Dorthena Batey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
