Robert Nathan Wallace, Sr. was born on Sunday, September 19th, 1965. Robert was affectionately known as “Rob”. Rob transitioned and entered Chapter Invisible on Sunday, January 7th, 2024. Rob accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Resurrection Lutheran Church.
He is the son of Ludye N. and Betty J. Wallace. He is the father of Dr. Robert “Robby” N. Wallace Jr. and brother of Ludye N. Wallace, Jr.
Rob was a brilliant and exceptional student. At an early age, his parents knew he was truly special. He excelled in both academics and athletics in his youth. Many of his close friends and family remember him as “one of the smartest people in the room”.
While in Chicago, he attended Resurrection Lutheran Church and St. Martin De Porres Academy. Upon returning to Nashville, he attended Metro Nashville Public Schools: Joelton Elementary and Whites Creek High School. While attending Whites Creek, he was dually enrolled at The Tennessee State University (TSU). After graduating a semester early from Whites Creek in 1983, he went on to attend TSU—where he was immediately classified as a sophomore. He later graduated from TSU in 1988. Rob studied Political Science with hopes of becoming a lawyer and politician. He was very enthusiastic and displayed a blueprint of excellence while working as a page for the late Senator Avon N. Williams. As a page, Rob assisted Senator Williams in the Chamber with various duties—consisting primarily of delivering correspondence and legislative material, preparing the chamber for Senate sessions, and carrying bills and amendments. While at TSU, his suave, vibrant, and studious spirit positively impacted his classmates and colleagues.
Upon successfully completing his bachelor’s degree, Robert became a member of the Nashville (TN) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. on Sunday, December 9th, 1990. Joining the Noble Klan of Kappa Alpha Psi was one of his most prized accomplishments. It was an incredibly special part of his identity.
Rob enjoyed supporting his mom, loving his son, and throwing down on the grill. He also enjoyed watching evening game shows. Rob knew almost every answer to most questions on Jeopardy and could accurately guess every word and phrase on Wheel of Fortune. He became a proud father of his son, Robby, on June 16th, 1991, with Lorraine Young. Having his son was his proudest moment. With every chance, he took the opportunity to remind the world that he was having a little boy.
Rob was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Earl and Bertha Mae Townsend and Nathan and Renola Wallace, aunt, Lola Mae Townsend Tyrrell, aunt and uncle, Floretta Claudette Townsend, and John Andrew, and, uncle, Nathaniel Wallace.
He leaves behind his parents Ludye N. and Betty J. Wallace, his son and only child—Dr. Robert N. Wallace, Jr., daughter-in-law, Shanese Wallace, brother, Ludye N. Wallace, Jr., sister-in-law, Lisa Wallace, niece, Ashley Wallace, nephew, Andrew Wallace, and many other relatives, cousins, and friends.
He will continue to be loved and missed by so many.
