Robert Anthony Perkins was born November 1, 1954, in Nashville, Tennessee to the union of Robert Perkins and Willa Frances Perkins. Robert departed this fruitful life on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Signature Healthcare of Erin in Erin, Tennessee.
Robert was educated in Nashville Davidson County Public Schools and was a 1972 graduate of Pearl High. His rampant curiosity came to life in his history classes, while he also expanded his love for the written word via language arts. After graduation, Robert enlisted in the Navy. He served from 1974 – 1976, traveling the country, and received an honorable discharge.
In 1975, Robert married the love of his life, Deborah Puckett. This union was blessed with 2 children– Nichole and Robert, Jr., in addition to the daughter of his heart, Angela. They later divorced but continued to give their best to the family they created together.
In his spare time, Robert enjoyed cooking, reading, walking, writing, and listening to music. Robert was a quiet, private man but enjoyed making people laugh and asking thought-provoking questions. Although he had a varied professional life, he loved working at the Nashville Public Library. It helped appease two of his biggest cravings in life– peace and unlimited access to books of all kinds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Willa Frances Perkins; sisters, Karen Perkins and Christine Chambers; and nephew, Russell “Rusty” Perkins.
Those left to celebrate and cherish his memories are his children, Angela Walker, Nichole Perkins, and Robert Perkins, Jr.; grandchild, Kevin Walker, II; brother, Russell T. (Renita) Perkins; nieces and nephews Robin Perkins, Ranetta Glover, Riya Carter, David Chambers, and Ricardo Phillips; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
