Rev. Henry L. Hamer was born on December 4, 1948, in Nashville, TN to Willie Louise Brown and Milton Hamer, and departed to be with the Lord on March 11, 2024.
Rev. Hamer was educated in the Davidson County School System, where he attended Pearl High School and graduated June 7th of 1963. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force. After he was honorary discharged from the Air Force, he attended Tennessee State University from 1973-1975, where he majored and graduated in Industrial Arts/Drafting. He later received his calling to serve the Lord, where he attended and graduated with a B.A. degree in Theology from American Baptist College in1985. He served the Lord by ministering and attending New Unity Church.
On June 24, 1998, Rev. Hamer was married in holy matrimony to Denoris E. Breveard.
Rev. Hamer loved woodworking, building model airplanes, upholstery, and could tell you how to fix any problem on a car. He was employed as a Drafter/Construction Clerk at Robertshaw Controls from 1973-1979. He worked as a Field Engineer with Byers Engineering Company from 1979-1981. He was a Facility Supervisor for Tennessee Preparatory School from 1982-1998. He also worked as a Lead Maintenance Technician with Metro School Systems and drove for Greyline.
Rev. Henry L. Hamer is preceded in death by his wife, Denoris E. Hamer; son, Frederick Raphael Hamer; mother, Willie Louise Brown; father, Milton Hamer; and brothers, Frederick “Dean” E. Hamer Sr. and James Waddy.
Left to cherish his memories: children, Roderick (Jamesia) Hamer, Patrick (Letitia) Hamer, Shandra Scoby-Hamer, Daniel (Taryn) Hamer Sr., Jordan Hamer, Trey Shue, Michael Seda, and Maquice Breveard Sr. Grandchildren: LaToya, Romonte, Christalynn, Ashya, Makenna, Shanyah, Caden, Mikiyah, Klayton, Daniel Jr., Kaden, Jayce, and Javia. Brother: Leroy (Peggy – deceased) Hamer, sisters: Linda (Larry) Crawford and Terri Hamer, and sister-in-laws: Romona Hamer and Dorothy Waddy. A devoted nephew, Deontaye Hamer and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family.
