Ransom Quincy Venson

June 9, 1933 — June 8, 2021

Ransom Quincy (RQ) Venson was born on June 9, 1933, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to the union of Effie Kellum Venson and Samuel S. Venson. He entered into eternal rest on June 8, 2021, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee. RQ is preceded in death by his beloved son, Reginald. RQ spent his formative years in Memphis, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School. After serving a tour in the U.S. Navy, RQ attended Tennessee A & I State University. His college roommate introduced him to his sister, the woman who would become his wife of 61 years—Forestine Strong. The Venson's were the parents of two dear sons, Randall and Reginald, and grandparents to their precious grandson, Zakariya. RQ spent a successful career as an electronics technician with the United States Postal Service, retiring after more than 30 years of service. He was an avid gardener, golfer, fisherman, and cook. But, paramount among RQ’s focus was his love for and devotion to the Lord, followed by his commitment to his family. He was a dedicated member of Faith United Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and active in numerous ministries. RQ leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Forestine; his faithful son, Randall, and wife Jamila; his loving grandson, Zakariya; his stepmother; 14 close-knit brothers and sisters; a host of caring brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and other relatives; and numerous church members and friends.

Memorial Service Saturday, June 19, 2021, 2pm at Terrell Broady Funeral Home
