Philip Andres Hernandez

August 13, 1944 — December 18, 2024

Philip Andres Hernandez was born April 13, 1944 in Huachuca, AZ. to Mary Dewees and Rafael Hernandez, while his father was stationed there during world war II. From 1945-1947 the family resided in Nashville. They then moved to Puerto Rico and lived there until 1974. After living in Puerto Rico the family returned back to Nashville.

Philip was educated in Nashville Davidson County Public Schools. He attended Head Elementary and was a graduate of Haynes High School.

After graduating he enlisted in the Navy serving in Vietnam. Philip received an Honorable Discharge. After his tours of duty he live between California and Nashville until his health began to fail. . After a series of strokes He settled in Nashville. As his health continued to deteriorate he  was admitted in to Alive Hospice. It was there he transitioned on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Mary Dewees Hernandez.

Philip is survived by his brother, Rafael Hernandez Jr., sister, Mary (Mi Mi) Hernandez, nephew, Rafael Hernandez III., several cousins and friends.

A graveside service to commit his cremains will be held later in the spring in the family plot at Greenwood Cemetery Main.
