Ms. Ola Mae Taite McDonald passed away on September 12, 2024, at Alive Hospice, Nashville TN. She was born on August 23, 1943, in Chance, AL, to Roxcanna Taite Whisette and Prince Slyvester. She was raised by her grandparents Theo and Nannie Bell Morrisette Taite. She accepted Christ at an early age at Fellowship Baptist Church. She later joined St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member.
Ola graduated from Community Center High School in Wilcox County. She attended Nashville State Community College. Ola married Jessie McDonald Sr in 1964 and together they had three sons. Ms. Ola was employed at Meharry Hospital where she retired.
Ola was on the mother’s board at St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville TN. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir, reading novels, cooking, getting manicures/pedicures, traveling to Alabama to visit her big sister and family, watching her favorite cowboy movies, enjoyed the company of her sons during their visits, and her church family. Ola will always be remembered for her caring and kind spirit. She was a sweet and soft-spoken woman who loved her family and friends.
Ola is preceded in death by her parents; Roxcanna Taite Whisette and Prince Slyvester; grandparents; Theo and Nannie Bell Morrisette Taite, Ruth Thomas; and son Michael McDonald Sr.
Ola is survived by her devoted sons, Jessie(Tawanda) McDonald, Stephen(Grace)McDonald of Nashville TN; sister, Jannie Mae Taite of Alabama; nieces, Shirley(Robert) Bradley and Malinda Taite, Janice(Leonard)Martin of Alabama; grandchildren, Jessie McDonald III, Lynette Marchbank, Latoya Bates, Michael McDonald Jr, Lashanda Evans, LaDontis McDonald, Fredrica Claybrooks, Anjianna McDonald, Bianca Bowman, David Vaughn, Daniel Vaughn, Jasmine Mitchum, Lisa McDonald, Stephen McDonald Jr, and Joshua McDonald, all of Nashville, TN, one sister-in-law, Judy Justice, twenty great-grandchildren, a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, host of friends, and a devoted friend Ms. Pearl Clark, and a devoted caregiver; Brittany McGee.
