Morris Clinton Swanson "Heggie"

January 28, 1961 — July 5, 2024

Morris Clinton Swanson (Heggie) was born January 28, 1961 in East Nashville, TN also known as Rock City to the union of Ann & Leon Swanson. He was the 7th child of their 8 children.

Morris went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 5th at his North Nashville home. He was Baptized at an early age at South Inglewood Baptist Church and was a Christian by Faith.

Morris received his education in the Metropolitan Nashville School System. He was long time employee of the Sam’s Clothing & Shoes store in Downtown Nashville. He loved dressing nice and did some modeling as a young man. Morris knew how to put it on with his hats and his cowboy boots with the spurs. He took pride in always looking nice and was known to dress sharp. He loved to cook for his family and could make the best turnip greens and soul food. Morris loved his music, he was a big fan of Rock & Roll, the Band Kiss, Michael Jackson, Yolanda Adams, and Prince to name a few. Music was big part of his Life.

Morris grew up in Nashville, TN Rock City-Inglewood Area he was well known as one of the Swanson Men. He loved North Nashville where he recently lived in the Hadley Park Towers and was very proud of his neighborhood. He attended all the events at the Hadley Park and looked forward to the African Street Festival every year.

He is preceded in death by his Father Leon Swanson, sisters Darlene & Gloria Swanson, brother Tyrone Swanson.

Morris was a devoted son to his 92 year old Mother and would visit her on a regular basis to spend the entire day with her. If he wasn’t with her, he would call her all day (her words) to make sure she was good. To say he was a momma’s boy was an understatement he cherished & loved his mother dearly to his last day.

If you meet Morris you would never forget him he was his own man and had his own style and was true to it. He loved his family, friends, and his long-time companion King Coco his dog which he was devasted to lose this year.
