Minister Derron Miguel Gray

August 15, 1975 — November 30, 2024

Reverand Derron Miguel Gray was born August 15, 1975, in Decatur, Alabama to the late Reverand Calvin V. Gray and Sandra Foster Gray. He entered rest on Saturday November 30, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee surrounded by family.

He confessed hope in Christ at an early age in Triana, Alabama at Tiana Seventh Day Adventist Church. He received his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics at Tennessee State University and his Masters in Divinity from Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center.

In the spring of 1999, he answered the call to ministry. He became ordained as an Itinerant Elder in the AME Church under Bishop Vashti McKenzie in 2008. He is a formerly endorsed Chaplain of the AME Church where he served in the Nashville, Dallas and Tuskegee VA hospitals. He has also served as a staff chaplain in Memphis, TN at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and Christian Care Communities in Louisville, KY.

He pastored at St Matthew AME Church in Clarksville, Tn. and St. Philips AME church in Nashville, TN. Derron was currently employed with Grayline of Tennessee.

He loved to help people and was always able to uplift others with his words of encouragement and hope. He had a love of cooking and feeding those around him. Derron was a gifted Master Barber who show cased his skills through many in and around Nashville. 

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents Moat Ballard, Sarah Gray and his great-grandmother Rebecca Gray.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Dr. Analisa Thompson Gray and his children, Samuel Derron Gray and Simone Denise Gray. His sisters Duchess (Jimmy) Gray of Nashville, TN, Tabitha Climons, brothers Chris (Cecilia) Singletary of Atlanta, GA, Keith Love and Omar Epps. His bestie Jennifer Dukes and all of the TSU crew: Arthur Williams, Kirk Campbell, Dremund Powell, Smitty, Melvin, Cleveland Gibbs. Dr Pedro Basden and a host of family and friends.
