Michael “Jimmy” Dale Washington, 71, of Nashville Tennessee was born on January 24, 1952, to Roosevelt Sr. and Mary Francis Tucker-Washington, the fourth of seven children, in Eastover, South Carolina. He departed this life on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.
Michael graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Promptly after high school, he began his career in the construction industry.
One of his fondest memories was of his father singing “Let Jesus Fix IT for You”. During his childhood his family relocated to Columbia, South Carolina.
His position as a construction foreman with Bell Construction led to his relocation to Nashville, Tennessee. Michael was also employed with Progressive Logistics Services, Kroger Company, Robert Orr Sysco, H.M. Sheet Metal Fabricators, and Music City Sheet Metal. During his employment with Music City Sheet Metal, Michael had the honor of being named Employee of the Year in 2020 and again in 2022.
Michael loved people, enjoyed playing cards, and being sociable. He was always ready to share a funny story or a captivating memory. Whether landscaping his lawn or preparing a southern home cooked meal, Michael found joy and took pride in the simple pleasures. During his free time, he could be found listening to music or watching old tv shows. His favorite artists include The Soulful Temptations, Country singer Darius Rucker, and R&B singer R. Kelly. Michael especially cherished road trips to South Carolina and Minnesota. He looked forward to spending time with family and friends. Michael was hard worker who was trustworthy, kind and didn’t mind taking a drink or two while playing cards and being social. These attributes will always be remembered.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt, Sr. and Mary Francis Tucker-Washington, his daughter Angela Washington, his brother Oliver Washington, and his sister Georgia Raspberry (Mickie).
He leaves to cherish his memory with his lifelong and devoted companion, Eleanor Bass, his children David Bolden, Keith Washington, and Kelli Goodwin (stepdaughter), his grandchildren Sevaria, Serena, Indy, Davida, David, Reagan, Ravanna, Kemani, and Keon, great-grand-daughter Heaven, his siblings Roosevelt Washington (Betty), Jeffery Washington (Betty), Joanne Foxworth (David), Victor Washington and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and co-workers.
