Mrs. Mary Ann (Thomas) Carney, 70 , of Nashville , TN rejoined the Lord on Friday December 27, 2024, of natural causes.

Mary was born in New Site, Alabama on September 15, 1954, to the late Benjamin and Eunice Thomas. Mary was the tenth child of ten and raised with a strong sense of family assisting her sister with raising her nieces and nephews. She graduated from New Site High School. After graduation, in 1973, Mary enlisted in the United States Army at Fort Campbell, KY.

Upon leaving the military Mary married the late Will Carney and moved to Nashville on August 21, 1975, with this union two sons were born and one step- daughter from her husband. Mrs. Carney worked for the Metropolitan Nashville Public School system for over 20 years, helping to shape the futures of hundreds of children as a teacher’s assistant.

Mrs. Mary as she was called by her friends and loved ones for her ability to be a mother to all. She was a fan of football, cheering for the San Fransico 49ers, Green Bay Packers and the Alabama Crimson Tide. She was a fan of all types of horror movies and television shows, ranging from Alfred Hitchcock to Jaws to. Friday the 13th series. The show “Grimm”, based on Grimm’s fairy tales, only eclipsed this love.

Mrs Carney was survived by her two sons Cedrick (Heather) Matthew (Aimee) and stepdaughter Regina. She leaves behind eight grandchildren Jacques (Monica), Michael, Emma, Saumario, Benjamin, Elizabeth, and Cedrick Jr, three great-grandchildren Alexandria, Della, and Levi, her sister Elizabeth Edwards, brother A.J. Thomas, several cousins, nieces, and nephews and dear friends who will miss wisdom, smile and her eternal goodness greatly.
