Luvergene Adkisson

December 4, 1924 — April 2, 2024

Mrs. Luvergene Adkisson was born December 4, 1924 in McLemoresville, Tennessee to the union of George and Ella Luter Bigham. She departed this peaceful life on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at AHC McKenzie in McKenzie, Tennessee.

Luvergene professed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with Reedy Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She served in various positions in the church. Her most notable position was church Clerk which she was blessed to hold that position for over 50 years. She maintained her lifetime membership but was unable to attend when her health began to fail.

Luvergene was educated in the Carrol County schools and was a graduate of Webb High School.

Luvergene married the love of her life James R. Adkisson on December 1, 1946 and to this union one child was born, George Robert Adkisson.

Luvergene was employed by Milan Arsenal for many years until her retirement. After her retirement she continued to work and was employed by H & R Block as a Certified Tax Preparer. She prepared taxes for several people in the community and it was said that she could “squeeze copper out of a penny”.

Luvergne used her knowledge of numbers to assist others with filing other documents to include Social Security and Disability forms. She had a loving spirit and was happy to help when needed. She was everyone’s mom and felt as if she could tell everyone what to do.

Luvergene was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ella Bigham, husband, James R. Adkisson, sisters, Pearl Ella, Minola, Dullie, Earline and Lafrances, brothers, Emanuel, George, Curtis, Robert, Sam Henry and Charlie. She was the last of twelve siblings.
