Mr. Leslie Hereford was born on May 24, 1943 the second of four children to the late Olivia Gustavia Hereford Brown in Madison County, Alabama.
He was educated in the Davidson County School System, attending Pearl High School. He later enlisted in the United States Armed Forces branch of the Army on June 23, 1963. He served three years during the Vietnam War. He was wounded in combat and received a Purple Heart and an Honorable Discharge.
Mr. Leslie started studying the Bible with his aunt Clara Thomas and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on November 23, 1975.
He was employed by CSX Transportation for many years and was blessed to retire from his position.
In his spare time Leslie enjoyed dancing and listening to music with family and friends. He also played golf, winning several tournaments, skating, bowling, and playing spades.
On Sunday February 11, 2024, he peacefully passed away surrounded by his family.
Leslie was preceded in death by his mother, Olivia Brown, brothers, Edward Hereford, Sr., and James Brown, sister, Joyce Sales.
Those left to cherish his memories are his four very devoted and loving daughters, Valetta Lan Hereford, Elisheba Earletta Hereford, Japhia Tekoa Hereford and Kyria Gwenette Hereford. Three grandchildren and one great grandchild, a host of other relatives and friends including Karlen Harris.
