Larry Marcelle Murry, Sr.

September 15, 1951 — October 6, 2023

Larry “Chick” Marcelle Murry Sr. was born on September 15th, 1951 in Nashville, TN and passed away on October 6th, 2023.

As a young boy, Larry was baptized at the New Hope Missionary Baptist church. He graduated from Cameron High School in 1969 where he was involved in the school band as the first chair trumpet player. His love of music remained with him throughout his lifetime.

He retired from the trucking industry after 40 years of dedicated hard work. Some of his employers included Ryder P.I.E., BOC Gases, Taylor Farms, and PRO Logistics. He made friends wherever he worked and stayed in touch for the years to follow.

Larry enjoyed staying physically active and was known as a skilled basketball player. He also enjoyed bowling and riding his Big Dog motorcycle as part of the Steel Horsemen Motorcycle Club where he enjoyed a full social life. In the years following his retirement, he enjoyed exploring new hobbies such as learning to play the bass and guitar, mastering his bowling skills and sharpening his computer skills with a specific interest in cyber security. He left behind detailed handwritten manuals and notes of his thorough research. Larry was beloved by neighbors and delivery workers whom he met. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, meticulously maintaining his yard.  He was known as a kind and wonderful neighbor who enjoyed sharing helpful lawn and maintenance tips he learned throughout the years. Larry will be missed very much by all family, friends and neighbors.

Anyone who knew Larry, also knew how much he loved his pitbull, and best friend, Lil Nitro.  Larry had many beloved dogs throughout the years including Josh, Duke, and the original Nitro.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother Allu Murry; his father Bogle Jackson Murry; his sister Barbara Jean Murray Story, and his sister Annie Christine “Tina” (Murray) Dinkins.

He leaves to cherish his memory, four children: Cheree Murry, Monique (Donovan) Howard, Larry Marcel (Danielle) Murry Jr, Mario (Cali) Murry; and six grandchildren: Jazmyn Murry, Tasani Patterson, Dylan Howard, Joshua Howard, Kingston Murry James, and Noah Murry.
