Kyla Ariana Suzanne Green was the first of many things. She was the first child of John Green and Kendra Jack. The first great-granddaughter of John and Katherine Green and first grandchild of Willie Jack and Deneise Jack. She was also the first of her siblings to graduate and get accepted to college. Born on July 30, 2002, Kyla was the eldest of eight kids. She was also the protector over her younger siblings and helped look after them. Always willing to help out around the house, Kendra describes her as “the perfect child”. She believed in God and family.
With a shy, sweet smile, Kyla was always hard-working and determined. She held down a part-time job at a Nashville Kroger store while a full-time student at LEAD academy. As a student, Kyla endeared herself to her teachers with a diligence not usually seen among teens. And in May 2021, Kyla graduated and began planning for her future. Her sisters and brothers loved and admired her tremendously. They described her as a ‘sneaker head’ due to her impressive collection of tennis shoes. Kyla had her own unique style and was also a bag girlie, who loved her tote bags, backpacks, and purses. Like a lot of her generation, she was heavily into anime (Japanese cartoons) and old-school R&B music. One of her favorite pastimes was watching Law & Order episodes, which helped fuel her interest in the justice system. This Spring, Kyla was headed to Nashville State College to study criminal justice as she looked forward to a career in forensic science before her life was tragically cut short on February 17, 2024.
She leaves to mourn her sweet memory beloved parents, Kendra Jack and John-Paul Green. Loving siblings: McKenzie Green, Kennedy Green, Kameron Jack, Kingston Jack, Kendall Evans, Skye Evans, and Kendra Evans. Grandparents Willie Jack and Deneise Carter-Jack, great-grandmothers Katherine Green, and Hilda Jack; uncles Kendrick Carter, Carlos (Juanita) Calloway Sr., and Stephan Calloway; devoted aunts Jewell (Timothy) Winn, and Lakisha Green; plus many more family and friends. Kyla was preceded in death by great-grandmother Edith Carter, great-grandfather John L. Green, Sr., grandparents John L. Green, Jr., and Sheila Calloway Green; and uncle Justin Allan Green.
