Karen Denise Phillips

January 29, 1970 — March 27, 2025

Karen Denise Phillips was born on January 29, 1970, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Lillie Mae Phillips and Lewis Daniel Phillips. She departed this life peacefully in her sleep after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Karen grew up in Nashville and attended Hunter’s Lane Comprehensive High School, graduating in 1988. She had a deep love for learning and was enrolled in college, where she pursued her dream of becoming a psychologist.

She was endlessly curious, always seeking to understand people and the world around her. She also studied accounting, demonstrating her sharp mind and dedication to bettering herself. Life was not always easy for Karen, but through faith and perseverance, she faced her challenges with grace and strength. She overcame hardships and found renewal in God’s love, embracing each day as a testament to His mercy and purpose for her life. No matter what obstacles she faced, she remained steadfast in her love for her family, especially her children and grandchildren, who were the absolute joys of her life.

She never missed an opportunity to speak about them with pride and admiration. Karen had a beautiful spirit—one that could brighten any room with her warmth, laughter, and wisdom. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her presence brought comfort, her advice brought clarity, and her love was felt deeply by those who knew her.

She cherished spending time with her loved ones, and those who were fortunate enough to know her will always remember her kindness, strength, and infectious smile. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will live on in the lives she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the love she so freely gave.

She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, hope, and unwavering love—a legacy that will never be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lillie Mae Phillips and Lewis Daniel Phillips; her sister, Myra “Joanne” Phillips; and her longtime partner, Ricky Sullivan.
