Judy was born in Toney, Alabama to the late Moses Goode Sr. and Ollie Mae Goode. Judy attended Council Training and she also furthered her education at Xavier University where she pursued her degree in nursing. She worked faithfully at Vanderbilt Hospital for 42 years. She was very family oriented, loving and compassionate. She had a deep passion for cooking home cooked meals. Everything had to be cooked from scratch and with lots of love. She specialized in homemade fried pies. Whether it was NFL or Collegiate football, Nascar, Street racing, or boxing, she was well versed and could have a conversation with anyone who would challenge her witty personality. She never met a stranger and if you were blessed to know her, you felt the love she possessed.
Judy confessed hope in Christ at an early age at Blackburn Chapel C.P.C. under the pastorage of Rev. McKinley Jones. She later moved her membership to Old Hickory Blvd. Church of Christ (576 Old Hickory Blvd., Nashville, TN.) where she was faithful member until her health failed.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and also her siblings… Matt Goode, Betty Goode, Moses Goode Sr., George Goode, and Jessie Goode. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted husband (Ronald Carney) of Nashville, TN. Her son and best friend Samuel Goode Sr. (Kimberly) of Nashville, TN. One son in marriage Richard Carney. Four grandchildren Samuel Goode Jr., Tenille Cochran, Terrell Cochran, and Taylor Cochran all of Nashville,TN. One great grandchild Layla Cochran.
Four brothers, Jimmy Goode (Juanita), James Goode, Sam Goode (Barbara), and Billy Goode (Stephanie). Three sister in-laws, Tometta Goode (George Goode deceased), Annie Pearl Patton (John Patton deceased), Mildred Joyce Coger (Robert). Three brother in-laws, Andrew Carney (Jene), Carl Carney (Joann deceased), and David Carney (Precilla). She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
