Joe Sims

Joe Sims was born in Griffin, Georgia on August 7, 1951, he was the last of five children born to the union of Beryl Sims and David Moore. He spent his early years being educated in Griffin Spalding County Schools, before moving to Nashville, Tennessee. In Nashville he attended East High School and soon after he joined the United States Marine Corps. Joe enjoyed traveling and never stayed in one place for long. He was called home on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 70.


He was preceded in death by his parents Beryl Sims and David Moore Sr., his brother Robert Sims, his sisters Johnnie Mae Patrick Ridgeway and Betty S. Moore Smikes.

He leaves to cherish his memory sister Juanita Moore, nieces Cynthia (Robert) Kugle, Anita and Tamara Smikes, Kimmie (Marcus) Jackson, and Arlana (Kennith) Highsmith, nephews Mashan (Dorlisa) Smikes, Melvin Smikes, Ronnie and Timothy Ridgeway, and a host of great and great great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Visitation Wednesday, November 24, 2021, 10-11 am with funeral to follow at Terrell Broady Funeral Home.
