Jimmie Mai Gentry Esmon, the second of two children was born November 18, 1944. She received her wings on February 20, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kinnard and Alice Gentry; husband, George Henry Esmon; sister Leolo Gentry Turner.
Jimmie was a graduate of Natchez High School and was Valedictorian of the Class of 1962. She attended Tennessee State University and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, including a plus 30 in education. She began her career in 1967 in Germany as a Military elementary teacher and then with the Metropolitan Nashville Public School system and retired after 37 years of service. She volunteered as an Interventionist and Tutor for many years after retirement. Jimmie was a real estate affiliate broker with over 20 years of activity.
Jimmie was united in holy matrimony to George Henry Esmon and to the marriage one son was born.
She accepted Christ and at an early age in Franklin and later became a member of Schrader Lane Church of Christ. Obedience to God, love and faith guided her life until her departure.
She was active in various community organizations including membership in the Redd Hatters, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving son, Jaymes Kevin Esmon, nephew, Ronnie Turner, and great niece Ronnesha Turner, lifelong friend Bill Grimes, devoted friends the Joslin family, other relatives, and friends.
Jimmie Mai will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and those who knew her best. May she rest in peace.
