Mr. Jessie “Jack” David Ruffin Sorrels entered into eternal peace on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Jessie was born on February 17, 1957 in Senatobia, Mississippi to Willie Roy and Ida Mae Sorrels. He was a 1976 graduate of Jackson Central Merry High School. Jessie retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation where he made lasting friends and memories.
Jessie gave his life to Christ at an early age and united with Cumberland Street Church. He later United with Greater First Street Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member.
Jessie had a calm, quiet spirit and was always one to Show up for others when it counted the most. His family and friends could always depend on their “Superman” to be there and come to the rescue. Jessie was a supportive and devoted father, son, brother and friend who truly loved his family and friends.
Jessie was preceded in death by his father Willie Roy Sorrels and brother Johnnie Sorrels.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving mother, Ida Mae Sorrels, son Jordan Sorrels, daughter Shannon Sorrels, loving sister Karia Sorrels, brothers Glenn Allen Sorrels, James Willie Sorrels, and Willie Roy (Maria) Sorrels Jr., three grandsons, Kamden Gibbs, Jonas Sorrels, and Khyland Corlew. Two cherished granddaughters Ada and Ava Sorrels. Devoted family Tiffany Corlew and Breon Dixon and his devoted companion Ms. Mary “Cissy” Dunn. Niece & nephew, Tamika Hurst and Christian Johnson. Jessie touched the lives of so many people with his smile and generosity.
