Jerry McClerkin was born November 3, 1987 in McKenzie, Tennessee to parents; Jerry Paul Melton of Henry, TN and Wanda Lynn McClerkin of Nashville, TN. He departed this life Thursday, February 13, 2025. Jerry accepted Christ in his life on August 18th, 1997 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Huntingdon, Tennessee where he was a member of the youth choir and men’s choir. Jerry was known for his radiant smile that could light up any room and his warm, welcoming nature. He had an extraordinary ability to connect with people, making everyone feel seen and valued. Whether it was through his kind words, playful banter, helpful actions, or contagious laughter, Jerry had a profound impact on the lives of those around him.
Jerry was a 2006 graduate of Huntingdon High School. He enjoyed all sports and especially loved playing 4 years with the 2004 State Championship winning Huntingdon Mustangs Football Team. His favorite teams were the Tennessee Titans and the Tennessee Vols. His love for the sport of football spilled over into many tailgates and game day parties. He loved making sure everyone had a good time.
Jerry loved his family and loved his children even more. He loved fishing, hunting, using his smoker to make world class brisket, helping friends with tasks that included, but weren’t limited to hanging tv’s and fixing cars, most of all he loved aggravating anyone he could! Jerry's generosity knew no bounds, and he often went out of his way to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jerry cherished his twin brother Terry. The bond they shared was a testament to their unique connection, characterized by laughter, adventure, and unwavering support for one another. They were the team captains for the annual family kickball game, which will go on in their memory. Sadly, Terry preceded Jerry in death, leaving a void that was felt deeply by all who knew him, especially Jerry. Now, Jerry and Terry are reunited, together again in eternal peace.
He leaves behind his Mother; Wanda McClerkin, Father; Jerry Paul Melton, Son; Micheal Gibson, Daughter; Aubrey Gibson, & Sister; Waneca Melton; He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and special friends.
