James was born June 5, 1954 in Nashville, Tennessee to the union of Dorothy Jean Madry and Wallace A. Reid. He departed this earthly life on Monday, October 17th, 2022 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.
James was educated in the Metro Davidson County Public School Systems, attending Moses McKissack, Washington Jr. High, and Pearl High School.
James was employed with the State of Tennessee at the Andrew Jackson State Building in the Mail Room. He loved sports, especially basketball and football.
He leaves to cherish his memories daughters Shiema M. Reid, Jasmine Reid; grandchildren, Kiara Reid, Richard Briley Jr., Ja’ohn Briley, Asia Toran; great grandchildren, Kayci Cheers, Zahvia Iciom; siblings, Deborah Reid-Jones, Brenda Reid-Hobbs, Ronnie E. Reid, Muslim Shahid, Adell Chubbs; devoted friends, Joseph Rogan, Gary Windrow; long term friend, Londacia Clark-Strain, , nephews; Dejuan Fanning, Yasin Shahid, Nafis Shahid, Islam Shahid; nieces, Aisha Shahid, Raushanah Shahid; aunt, Lucille Madry-Clark,; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Vieiwng Sunday, October 23, 2022, 2-4pm, visitation Monday, October 24, 2022, 11-12 with funeral to follow at funeral home. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Complete obiturary forthcoming.
