James Allen Payton, III

James Allen Payton III was born August 13, 1985 in Nashville, Tennessee to the union of James A. Payton, Jr. and Debra R. Payton. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.

James attended public school in Nashville, Tennessee, graduating from Whites Creek Comprehensive High School in 2003. James was a very hard worker he was employed with Kroger as an Assistant Manager for many years. He always worked as a Customer Service Representative, prior to his passing, he was employed with Xfinity.

James was a Christian and loved the Lord. The love he had and showed his family and friends you could not measure. Even during his adult life, He sweetly referred to his mother as “Mommy”, which Debra was very proud to be called “Mommy”.

James loved his mother’s cooking, he loved to cook and was an excellent cook. James never met a stranger, if he was your friend, a friend indeed he was, always willing to help and truly sincere. The joy he felt when spending time with his sisters, Tasha and Tiffany, and his dad, Jimmy.

You could not measure the happiness in James when spending time with his niece and nephews. The bond between Tiffany and James was unbreakable. The love he showed for his entire family and friends was amazing. James memory will live on through us all. He deemed himself as James HairVixen Payton, because his ability and talent for hair was absolutely incredible.

James was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Allen Payton Sr., Josie Mae Owens-Payton; maternal grandparents, Wardell D. Hughes, Sr., Mary A. Hughes; uncles, Wardell D. Hughes, Jr., Michael R. Hughes; aunts, Alice G. Cook, Jeanice S. Hughes- Dickerson.

He leaves to cherish his memories parents, Debra R. Hughes Payton, James Allen Payton Jr.; sisters LaTasha (Brian) Bond, Tiffany (Sherman) Carver; uncles, Dennis Payton of North Carolina, Mark (Sandra) Hughes; aunts Beverly (James) Lockridge, Sandra Jones; precious nephews, DeMarkus Michael Lee Carver, Carmello James Carver, Marquise Tyrone Bass, Kameron Allen Carver; precious niece, Melanie Denice Lena Carver; close friends, Timothy Harris (Tee), Jeffrey Hobson, Wayne Reed, Katherine Cosey, Tillera Burton, Brandon Carney, Jackie Amor Wihper, Stephanie Uselton, Travis Thomas, Joshua White, Timethea Thomas, Ramon Scott, a host of many cousins and friends.
