James Darrell Jones Sr., known affectionately as “Pretty Ricky”, passed away on April 5th, 2024, in his hometown of Nashville, TN.
Born on November 14, 1955, to Dorothy Lee Jean Vaughn Jones and Milton L. Jones. James was a lifelong resident of the East Nashville community, and a pillar of his family that he dearly loved.
James was a graduate of Hume-Fogg High School, class of 1975. He enlisted into the United States Army shortly thereafter.
On July 22, 1978, James married his beloved wife, Deborah Jones (yup same last name) and together they raised two children. James loved his family and loved the Lord. His Sunday mornings were reserved for his time with the Lord and his family.
James was a jack of many trades and a master of all. He was skilled at home interior painting, plumbing, singing, cooking… especially turnip greens. James was a talented Congo drum player, often dragging his finger over the top of the drum to change its pitch. James loved his Cadillacs brand cars and took much pride in the many he owed. He was the family calendar, knowing everyone’s birthday remembering the month, the day, and the year.
Sadly, James was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Harry Jones. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family: his wife Deborah; his children, Jamie Denise Jones Hardin and James Darrell Jones Jr., AKA B-Bro, his loving nieces Tameka and Nichole, nephew Issac and Harry and a host of cousins.
James Darrell Jones Sr. will be remembered as a loving husband, father, uncle, cousin, and friend. His legacy will live on in his favorite song, Precious Lord, Take My Hand, and for the love he gave to the many who knew him.
