James Calvin Beasley, Jr.

James Calvin Beasley, Jr. was born on January 5, 1951, and departed life on February 14, 2024. He was the son of James Calvin Beasley, Sr. and Jo Anna Elizabeth Beasley. Calvin (as we all called him) received his education in the Nashville Public Schools, graduating from Pearl High School in 1970. He continued his education to become a licensed plumber, mechanic, electrician and a chef. Calvin worked at Tennessee State University for 17 years as a Plumber Supervisor for the campus of TSU before he retired.

Calvin was a faithful member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, Choir Member and was continuously involved in other areas within the church. He was very loyal to his tasks and would dedicate himself to whatever services were needed, especially helping to organize the annual Brotherhood Outreach Barbeque. This outreach event enabled him to utilize his passion for cooking. He really enjoyed preparing Thanksgiving and Christmas feast for his family and friends.

Calvin was loved by everybody that knew hem and always had a word of wisdom, encouragement, and support for anyone who needed it. He truly loved his family, church, friends and his TSU co-workers.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, son, James Calvin Beasley, III, sister, Rose Ann Buchanan and grandson, Bane Beasley.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Gwendolyn Beasley, children, Rashaunda Beasley, Drason (Sonya) Beasley, Reginald Green, and Ramona Hunt, sisters, Fanny Yvonne Baxter and Rochelle Stratton, grandchildren, Javonna (John) Broadus, Emmanuel Fowler, Treasha Webster, Dominique (Wesley) Beasley-Lopez, Olivia, Bayo and Everly Beasley, devoted nephew, Maurice (Jeneene) Buchanan and a host of other family members and friends.
