Isaac Thomas Burford who born on August 9, 1939 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late I.T. Burford and Lillian (Rogan) Burford. After an extended illness on Friday , February 2, 2024, he peacefully departed this life at TriStar Centennial Medical Center.
Isaac was a gentle soul with an outgoing personality who was a helper to the many people he met throughout his life. He accepted Christ as a young adult and was a faithful member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church for over Thirty years.
He received his formal education in Nashville Davidson County Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Pearl High School, class of 1959, where he played Tuba in the Marching Band. Until his health failed in the recent years, he was an active member of the Pearl High School 1956-1959 Alumni Group.
Isaac met the love of his life, Ruby H. Burford and they married in August 1960, to their 63 year union they were blessed with two devoted daughters and 3 granddaughters, who were the light of his life.
Isaac loved his family, travel and was a history buff and was a kind, compassionate person who also loved his many friends. For 30 years, he faithfully protected the people of Nashville as a member of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. He was an integral part of the Community Relations Department and he coached many boys through the police sponsored football and baseball teams. He also worked for the U.S. Marshals Service in Nashville at the Customs House for Several years before he settled into fulltime retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents I.T. and Lillian (Rogan) Burford, brothers, William Henry Burford, Alan Lorenzo Burford, and sisters Francis Smith and Madelyn Denise Burford.
Isaac leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 63 years, Ruby, daughters, Marlinda (Charles) Gillespie and Marlita Burford, granddaughters, Brittany D. Gillespie, Briana R, Gillespie, and Caitlyn A, Gillespie. Very devoted brother and sister-in-law, John Wesley and Serethae Burford, brothers, Charles Nathaniel, Earl Matthew, Errol Tyrone, Robert Leslie (LaNita) and sister, Charlotte Ann (Fred) Burford- Hagler and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends. Very special family friends, Savanna Thomas and L.R. Brook Family.
