Gwendolyn M. Lane was born on March 3, 1936 in Nashville, Tennessee to the union of Eseveline Smith and Dan Stevenson. She entered peacefully into rest on Thursday, April 20th, 2023.
Gwendolyn accepted Christ at an early age at Gordon Memorial Methodist, she later became a faithful member of Friendship M.B. Church.
Gwendolyn received her formal education in the Nashville Davidson County Public School Systems, attending Pearl High School.
Gwendolyn was united in Holy Matrimony to Jake Lane Jr. on June 3, 1977 and they enjoyed 45 years of marriage until his passing in February 2023.
Gwendolyn was employed with The Nashville Banner, Rosedale Baptist Church, and Easter Seals, until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, baking cakes and pies, being a church usher, volunteering for Fifty Forward (Tom Joy Headstart, and McNeilly Daycare Center).
Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Lane Jr., sons, James Lewis Jr., Emiliano “Kipp” Lewis, and daughter, Denise Rochelle Lewis.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories sons, Ronald Lewis, George (Melanie) Lewis, daughters, Sandra Lewis, Patricia (Michael) McKissick, Ramona Moore, brother, William (Joyce) Smith, sisters, Wilma Harris, Majorie Burns, grandchildren, Gioia Jiles, Marlon “Tony” Knight, Lamont Lewis, Terry (Zeineb) Lewis, Terrance Lewis, Themules “Bookee” Holt, Corbin (Marcia) Ajogri, Travis Lewis, George “MJ” Lewis Jr., David Carter Jr., Jeffery Moore Jr., Joshua (Sha) Moore, and Janeceia Moore, a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, friends, Francis Marable, Loretta Black, Mrs. Leo, and the Volunteer grannies at Fifty Forward.
