Gerald Boyd Johnson

August 5, 1946 — January 28, 2025

Mr. Gerald Boyd Johnson was born August 5, 1946, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was the 2nd bundle of joy for his parents John Lewis and Mary Elizabeth Johnson. 

 Gerald was a member of Cleveland Street Baptist Church in Nashville Tennessee 

He attended schools in the Nashville Davidson County Public Schools. He attended Meigs High School and DeVry School of Electronic after his tour of duty with the U.S. Army in 1966-1971

Gerald served in the United States Army from 1966-1971 with one tour of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Rifle, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device

He was intelligent, caring, loving and supportive of his family and friends, he had a great sense of humor and a very generous heart. He was an avid bowler and loved to fish. His self-taught love of electronics, auto mechanics, carpentry served his family and friends well over the years until his health failed. 

Gerald worked at Genesco as a Fabric tech for 2 years, He also worked as a carpet and tile installer for Mannings and Ozburn Hessey Carpet Companies, School Bus Driver for Metro Nashville School System Department of Transportation for 30 years before his retirement. After retirement he worked as an Armed Security Guard at Aquanis College. 

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife Jennifer Johnson, devoted children Barbara Davis, LaVonda, Gerald and James Johnson. Sister Paulette (James) Groves, Brothers Kelvin (Theresa) Fredrick (Cathy) Johnson Barry (Deceased) and Waymond (Deceased) Brothers in law Kenneth (Winfred) and Donald Leatherwood. Sisters in law Patricia Jenkins, Stephanie Nance. His grandchildren Quiana Shaw, Sharonda and Kenndall Johnson, Ra’Shad Hunter and Kyrie Johnson, De Anthony (Deceased) and (Shemese (Deceased) Davis. Great grandchildren Mia Grace and Micah Zion Johnson. Devoted Friend Richard Cartwright. Numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
