Mrs. Elizabeth Heaston Mims was born November 18, 1928 to the union of Allen and Henrietta Nash Heaston in Dyersburg, Tennessee. She earned her wings and departed this peaceful life on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at AHC Cumberland Nursing Home in Nashville, Tennessee.
Elizabeth accepted Christ in her life at an early age and was united with the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Dyersburg, Tn. She later united with Christ Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, In. and recently with The Temple Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
Elizabeth was educated in the Dyer County School System and was a 1946 graduate of Bruce High School. She married the love of her life Willie Mims in 1950 and they enjoyed a beautiful life.
Elizabeth was employed by the government Civil Service for over 30 years as a Personnel Clerk and Micrographic Equipment Operator at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In her spare time she enjoyed caring for plants, baking, cooking, all types of music to include, Jazz, R&B and Gospel. She had a heart for the elderly and spent time nurturing.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by both parents, Allen and Henrietta Heaston, husband, Willie Mims, favorite aunt, Emma Fisher and good friend Emma Lee Becket Batts.
Those left to mourn her passing and cherish her memories are her loving and devoted daughter, Vanna J. (Melvin) Ferguson, granddaughters, Ayanay (Andre’) Turner, Candice (Gary, Jr.) Jennings, and Ashley Beard, great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Benjamin, and Donovan, brother, Curtis Heaston and niece, Patricia “Patsy” Heaston, extended family, Robin (Wayne) Bilbo. Loyal and dear friends, Betty and Terry Love, Conell King, Naomi King, Tabitha Harris Horton and Doris Smith, devoted relatives and friends in abundance.
