Reverend Eleanor Kendall, 80 passed away on Monday January 15,2024 at St.Thomas West in Nashville, TN Eleanor (Ellie), Becki as she was sometimes affectionately called, was a devoted sister, friend and minister. She was born January 3, 1944, to late Clovis and Addie Henry Kendall, in Whitlock, TN.
Rev. Kendall professed hope in Christ at an early age and was a faithful and longtime member at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, until she relocated from the area. At the time of her transition, she was Associate Pastor and member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Jackson, TN. Although she worked and served in various church families throughout the West Tennessee Area and beyond. Reverend Eleanor Kendall was called at an early age to serve Christ and worked tirelessly to educate children, to help the elderly and under privileged by spreading the message of Christ within her church families and in the community at large.
Reverend Eleanor Kendall was known as a trail blazer for Civil, Human and Women’s Rights. She was known for her impeccable flair for fashion and meticulous attention to detail.
She is celebrated as loyal friend and God Mother to many. She was a graduate of Central High School, Lambuth University, American Baptist Seminary and the American Institute of Banking. She worked for many years and retired from Peoples Bank of Murray, Ky, as the Community Center Director in Jackson, TN, and as Director of the Paris Special School District along with various other positions.
In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her three brothers, Clovis D. Kendall, James Jimmerson Kendall, Thomas Kendall and three sisters, Margaret Hudson, Joyce Kendall and Jean Kendall Bond.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Ketha KendallHolmes (Antoine Williams) of Memphis, TN, a brother, Hassie Kendall of Puryear, four sisters, Elnora J. Tharpe of Hazal Ky, Sandra K. Williams and Willie R Vaden (Dee) of Paris, Tn, and Mary H. Littleton of Jackson, Tn, two grand children Solaz J.Kendall-Holmes and SunRa Z. Williams of Memphis, TN, her sister in law Annette Kendall of Huntsville Alabama, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, Dewayne Martin (Bridgette), Leonard Martin , Edwina Hudson, Jocelyn Hardin of Hazel, Ky, Renee Hornbuckle James Hornbuckle Jr of Puryear, Alexandria Byars -Williams beloved and devoted Godsons and Caregivers Carnell Williams and Tony Williams of Paris, TN as well as a host of friends, family members and her family in Christ.
