Debra Linn Collins – Thornton was born on January 30, 1957 to Bernice Keener and Edward Collins in Los Angeles, California. She departed this life on Monday, July 19, 2021 at her residence in Nashville, Tennessee.

Debra accepted Christ at an early age while attending Greater Cornerstone Baptist Church and Mt. Moriah in California.
Debra affectionately called “Debra Lou Lou” was educated in Los Angeles, California public schools, graduating from Fairfax High School. She continued her education by attending and graduating from California State University Northridge.
Debra was married to Carldell Thornton (1986-1998), two children were born to this union. She taught Elementary School throughout the Los Angeles County School District.
In her youth, she enjoyed participating in Pageants, she won Miss Black Los Angeles, as well as Miss Afro American California. She also headed up teen ministry at Antelope Valley Christian Center. Debra loved doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandkids. She will be truly missed!
Debra was preceded in death by her mother Bernice Collins, father Edward Collins, and stepdaughter Carla Thornton.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories loving stepmother Claria Collins, daughter & Son-in-love Myesha and Anthony Massie, son Khristopher Thornton, grandchildren Myah Wilson, Aeriyana Massie, Azrel Massie, great granddaughter Na’Riyah Thompson, siblings Pam Collins (TX), Lajuan Frazier (AR), Darryell Frazier (CA), Judy Lewis (CA), Karla Steel (AR), Derrick Logan (CA), along with a host of other siblings and loved ones.

Viewing Thursday, July 29, 2021, 12-6, Funeral Friday 1pm at Funeral Home. Burial in California
