Deborah Owens

January 17, 1955 — March 31, 2025

Deborah Renee Owens was born on January 17, 1955, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Joseph Beasley and Lila B. Beasley. She departed this life peacefully at Vanderbilt Hospital on March 31, 2025 surrounded by loved ones after a courageous 2nd battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Deborah grew up in Nashville and received her formal education in Metro-Davidson county schools graduating from McGavock High School. She had a deep love for learning and completed a nursing program at a community college. She was baptized at an early age but later after truly studying Christ and learning about how to live more like him, she was re-baptized on her own accord. She joined Olivet Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Michael Cousin while she lived in Nashville.

She was endlessly curious, always seeking to understand people and the world around her. Life was not always easy for Deborah, but through faith and perseverance, she faced her challenges with grace and strength. She overcame hardships and found renewal in God’s love, embracing each day as a testament to His mercy and purpose for her life. No matter what obstacles she faced, she remained steadfast in her love for her family, especially her children and grandchildren, who were the absolute joys of her life. She never missed an opportunity to speak about them with pride and admiration.

Deborah had a beautiful spirit—one that could brighten any room with her warmth, laughter, and wisdom. She was a loving and a devoted caregiver to her siblings when they were seriously ill, nursing them back to health. Deborah was also known for her outstanding customer service in every job role she had. She would make it a point to go above and beyond with everyone she came in contact while she was employed from various security services, the food & hospitality industry, and retail.

She cherished spending time with her loved ones, and those who were fortunate enough to know her will always remember her kindness, strength, and infectious smile. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will live on in the lives she touched.

Deborah leaves behind a legacy of resilience, hope, and unwavering love—a legacy that will never be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Beasley and Lila B. Beasley; sister Pamela E. Beasley, step-brother William “PeeWee” Murphy, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories behind to her sister, Robbie L. Beasley; her brother, Kelly “Candy” Beasley; children; Melvin D. Kimbro, Danita (La Juan) Lewis, and Danisha L. Owens, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
