Mother Connie Gale Huff-Simmons was born on January 25, 1960 in Nashville, Tennessee to the union of George Albert Huff Jr. and Dorothy Delores Huff. She departed this life on Sunday, October 29, 2023
Mother Connie received her formal education in the Nashville Davidson County Public School Systems, graduating from Maplewood High School, Class of 1977. She continued her education at University of Tennessee Knoxville,, Belmont, and later attended Tennessee State University, graduating in 2001 with a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science. She also participated in tennis, student organizations and was a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.
Mother Connie was employed with Vanderbilt Hospital for over 30 years and NTT Data from 2017 until her passing.
At an early age, Mother Connie accepted Christ at Hicks Tabernacle. She later joined Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, and she was a soldier for the Lord. When she was able, she participated with the Dancing Divas of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, she severed on the Motherboard, and volunteered her services as a faithful member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church. Saying "No" was not in her vocabulary. She was a servant for the Lord. Connie loved everyone and was loved by many. She leaves behind a great legacy.
Connie loved to spend time with the apple of her eye, her daughter Kayla. They enjoyed a special relationship and enjoyed traveling, participating in church activities, attending Sci-fi events, and cooking gourmet meals together. Connie and Kayla were each other’s rock. The loved one another beyond measure.
Connie also loved to bake. She made the most beautiful cakes for weddings, family, and friends. She also loved to sew and could alter any clothing item. She loved doing things in technology, such as technical support for her job and family members. She also loved spending time with family and friends going out to eat and attending events. She was also a diehard football fan. Sunday was her favorite day.
Connie was also an advocate for disadvantaged and disabled people. She would give her last to help anyone. She was a wonderful mother, servant of God, sister, niece, co-worker and friend.
Mother Connie was preceded in death by her son, Calvin Simmons.
She leaves to cherish her memories daughter, Kayla E. Simmons, siblings, Beverly (Thomas) Goodloe Jr., George A. Huff III., James E. (Vicky) Huff, Sheila Huff, nephews and nieces, Thomas E. (Elizabeth) Goodloe III., Porscha Huff, Mykel Huff, Marquez Braden, stepdaughter, Danielle Simmons, goddaughter, Brenda Porter, and a host of godchildren, family, and friends.
