Charles William Cartmell, IV was born May 2, 1955, in Nashville, Tennessee to the union of Charles William Cartmell, III and Florence Fagan Cartmell. He departed this productive life on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Greenhills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Charles was educated in the Nashville Davidson County School System and was a 1973 graduate of North Nashville high School. He furthered his education by attending Tennessee State University.
Charles married the love of his life Guenell “Gwen” Nubia on September 18, 1979. He was employed as a Chef for many years at Sodexo Marriot.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Florence I. Cartmell, Charles W. Cartmell III, son; Christopher D. Cartmell, and brother: Michael Cartmell.
Those left to cherish his precious memories a devoted and loving wife: Guenell Nubia Cartmell; sons: Carlos F. Rogan and Charles W. Cartmell V; daughters: Chonte' (Phillip) Frazier and Chalonda (Justin) Hudson; Sisters: Reba Cartmell-Simmons, Jennifer Cartmell, and Renonia Godwin; brothers: Reginald Cartmell and Timothy (Priscilla) Cartmell; Mother-in-law: Barbara Jean Nubia-Smith; Brothers-in-law: Donnell (Joyce) Abernathy, Patrick (Jasmine) Abernathy; Sisters-in-law: Tammie (Tommy) Johnson, Felicia (Gary) Mays, Lolita (Anthony) Knox, and Marva Bright; Aunts: Johnnie M. Cartmell, Bobbie Jo (Chester) Curry; 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives, and friends.
