Bessie Mai Cooper-Hanserd Nashville, TN Age 74 passed away on Monday May 8, 2017. She was the oldest daughter of eight children. She was a member of Olivet Baptist Church where she served as a Mother of the Church. She enjoyed volunteering and was active with many of the church activities. She was a graduate of Pearl High School and Tennessee State University with a Degree in Nursing. She was employed by Centennial Hospital for over two decades as a registered nurse and worked at Centennial and St Thomas in medical administration. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Willie Ferrell Cooper and Joe Lewis Cartwright.  She was married to William L. Hanserd.  She is survived by daughters, Yolanda Lynn (Tyrone ) Jolley and Tamara Lee Hanserd two granddaughters, Peiton Jarmon & Faith Jolley, siblings, Helen Pardue, Nancy Muhammad (Terry ) Baugh, Martha Nixon, Abdur (Cassandra ) Hasan, David ( Denise ) Cartwright , brother- in- law, Andrew Hanserd a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Viewing Thursday, May 11, 2017, 12 -6pm with family present from 4 - 6 pm at the funeral home.
