Barbara Lee Davis was born in Nashville, Tennessee on August 23, 1936 to the union of Hazel L. and Robert L, Beason, Sr. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 3, 2024 surrounded by her family at her residence in Nashville, Tennessee. . Barbara accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was an active member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church singing in the Mass Choir and the Tennessee Conference Choir until her health began to fail. Barbara had a beautiful voice. She also sang in the Pearl and Cameron Choirs. She was involved in many organizations to include the Addie Primm Johnson Missionary Society and the New Age Senior Ministry.
Barbara was educated in the Nashville Davidson County Schools graduating from Pearl High School in the class of 1954. After graduation Barbara enrolled in the Riverside Hospital Nursing Program. Her love for fashion later changed her career so she became a Retail Sales Associate Supervisor at Pizitz and McRae Department Stores in Birmingham, Alabama for a number of years until her retirement.
Barbara was married to the love of her life George L. Davis, Sr. for over 60 years. This marriage was blessed with two beautiful children.Barbara was preceded in death by both her parents, Robert and Hazel Beason, Sr., her beloved and devoted husband, George L. Davis Sr. her son, George L. Davis, Jr, brother Robert L. Beason, Jr. (“Super B”) sister, Carlene Beason and great granddaughter, Geona Denise Davis.
Those left to cherish her memories are her devoted daughter, Lisa D. Davis, grandchildren; Aleshia L. Beene, George L. Davis,III, Cerrita N. Taylor; great grandchildren, Jaliyah, Jeromey, Jason, Drew, Gemond, and Tameria; sister, Dora M. Owsley, brother, Mack E. Beason, brother-in-love Thomas Davis. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends, Christine Craig, Hannah Harvell, Gloria Howard, and the Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church Family.
